Lucy is now 20 pounds and will be a year old in under two weeks, so we decided it was time for her to face forward in her car seat. I think she really liked it...we sure liked being able to look back at her smiling face! However, we think this new arrangement has made it more difficult for her to nap in the car (too much excitement, maybe) and so the afternoon nap we hoped she'd start in the car didn't really happen. As a matter of fact, no naps really happened today except for one 20-minute catnap...that hardly qualifies as a nap. I know that she'll transition to one nap a day (instead of two) sooner or later, which is fine, but NO naps a day is NOT fine! Of course, she ended up going to bed an hour early tonight. Our silly "big girl"!

Congratulations on another milestone. Lucy sure looks happy to be a big girl. You are correct, one nap a day is what big girls do. I distinctly recall, Sara, that you spent the morning being "busy", ate lunch, and then went down for a nap around 1pm. That was time I could "count on" and when you woke up, after I untied the bows that you made around your ankles with your socks, we were ready for what your eventually referred to as the day's "agenda".....I had a nice break during your nap, and we were both ready for things like story time at the library or playing with your friends while the mom's had their own time together. Then, it was dinner, your bath, a story, and off to bed by 7pm or I thought that the Board of Health would come and take my kids from me!!! As you know, you and Josh had an early bedtime until you were in high school!!! Worked for me.
Much love to all of you and counting days til we see the latest version of our sweetie.
