Two Months Old

"Oh, yes, being two months old is hysterically funny!"

*UPDATE -- 4/17* We went for her two month checkup today and all is well! She is 10 pounds, 10 ounces and 23 inches long. She's growing right on track.*

Wow, Phoebe is already two months old. Talk about time flying...woosh! I really feel that I have never been so acutely aware of the passage of time as I have been since having children. It feels especially true when you're still measuring their age in terms of weeks. Every week it's like whoa, another week gone, where did it go?

Phoebe has come out of her brand newborn shell this month. She is somewhere between 10 and 11 pounds, but I'm not quite sure where. I will update this entry on Tuesday after we have her two month appointment (she's getting her first round of shots, so wish us both luck). She certainly looks like she's getting nice and chunky, and lately she is eating ALL the time so I think she must be growth spurting. She has started to coo a lot and it is adorable -- she sounds like a little birdy. I remember Lucy being the same way and it got very loud and demonstrative at times, so either that was just "Lucy being Lucy" or maybe that will be what Phoebe starts to do as well. She has also started to give us really huge smiles and when she does it her face gets really big and totally into it. Also, when she smiles she gets a dimple in her left cheek (just like Mommy!) and also a little one in her chin. It is so amazing to see these little things develop in her -- the things that make her uniquely her. She is starting to lift her head up more and I feel like she is getting stronger every day.

I have to say that we feel really lucky with her sleep. We also know that it could change in a moment, so I am not going to brag! But these days, she will nurse a lot in the evenings, finishing up somewhere between 8 and 9pm. We then swaddle her and put her in the swing, where she falls asleep. We transfer her into her bassinet after about half an hour, and she stays asleep until between 3:30 and 5:30 -- today, it was until 5:45! She then nurses and goes back to sleep until around 6, at which point she wants to nurse a bit more and cuddle. So at that point I keep her in the bed with me until around 7 or so, at which point she wants to be awake and start her day (and so does her sister!). Phoebe also sleeps a lot during the day still, to the point that I worry about her sometimes. But then she has really good active awake time later in the afternoon/early evening, so I really am not too concerned. I think she is just not a morning person! And from what I hear, I should just consider myself lucky for having a really awesome sleeper.

Happy Two Months, Phoebe! We love you very much!
