Cloth diaper update: Score one for Mickey

{mickey mouse, clearly taunting me}

The cloth diaper worked well on Phoebe yesterday. It actually kept her drier than I expected it would. It was easy to wash and it dried quickly. All good things. Jeff thinks that it looks more like little pants than a diaper and he has his doubts as to how well it will work under outfits. Admittedly, it is a lot bulkier than her disposable diapers, but still I don't think it's a big deal. Once the disposables are wet they get pretty bulky anyway.

As for Lucy, this morning she enthusiastically agreed to wear the "new green diaper." The enthusiasm lasted for all of 2 minutes. She immediately complained that it was too tight, and then walked around in it like an orangutan. She then told me that she wanted it off and that she wanted a "Mickey Mousey diaper" (i.e., a Huggies diaper with Mickey's picture on it). So, for those playing at home, the score is 1 for me (by way of Phoebe) and 1 for Mickey Mouse. Stay tuned.

Very interesting! I've considered experimenting, so I will be curious to learn how this all turns out. Good luck!

i am an avid blog reader of yours but lazy with leaving comments. i got to your blog through the buxton's- i knew jim from HW in ric. anyway- i felt i needed to comment on the cloth diapers. i have 6 of them- can't have too many because i work and daycare won't use them so they are night and weekends only. i love fuzzi bunz with the hemp inserts. they are great. i did find though that my daughter wets ALOT at night- to the point that disposables exploded (have you had to deal with cleaning up gel pellets yet?) and cloth leaked... so i went with huggies overnights for night time only. i like the cloth for the day time alot. I don't know anything about the brand you bought but i think i saw them on diapers.com- which has great prices. if you get more- regardless of brand- consider ebay. yes- used diapers but our parents had a diaper service which is the same. and lastly- stains- wash them and then put them outside in direct sunlight- i haven't tried it because mine have cleaned up wonderfully but heard it works. good luck!
