Ring rot

Sorry if this sounds gross. I have what I believe is called "ring rot" -- an irritation on my wedding ring finger that I think is caused by water getting trapped under my band. I stopped wearing my rings for a while and used an antifungal cream...I thought it cleared up but I started wearing my rings again and it came back (I have started to take them off when I shower and at night hoping it would make a difference). Any advice out there? I miss my rings!

Aaah! I know what you mean! I have had "ring rot" since we got married. Sorry I don't have much advice because mine is driving me nuts. One thing I am not good about is taking off my rings when washing dishes or my hands. This supposedly will help because you won't be trapping water under there. Try and keep it really dry and maybe that will help. In the meantime use some hydrocortizone to clear it up. Good luck...and if you get any better advice can you pass it along!

In addition to what you are doing, I find a good professional ring cleaning takes care of it.

I've had the same problem, and my dermo says it is just from all the hand washing and water getting under there. She suggested taking the rings off overnight and using hydrocorizone cream. She said there is really nothing to prescribe for it. Mine comes and goes...and seems to get worse with pregnancy!
