We had a little overnight get-away in Providence this weekend. Well, not really a true get-away, because the kids came with us :) But it was a fun little trip for our family and a nice change of pace. Lucy loves hotels, as I think I have written about before, so it was a cause for great excitement. We went down on Friday evening to attend a party at our friend Bill's company. Lucy was very excited to wear her new "ballerina shoes" dress that I made for her. She had a lot of fun at the party and was really well-behaved. The highlight for her was the pinata. It was so cute to see her make a mad dash for the candy when it finally came out. She must have eaten 10 lollipops! We couldn't get a good picture of her in her new dress (of course)...here's the best we could do:When we got back to the room, it was well past bedtime but the girls were both in a silly, giggly mood:
Phoebe finally settled down and went to sleep in the stroller bassinet next to the bed. Lucy, getting to stay in our king-sized bed with us, took a lot longer to settle. Of course, we didn't help matters by ordering ice cream from room service. It took almost an hour to arrive, by which point I think it was nearly 10pm, but nonetheless Lucy and I enjoyed our ice cream in bed. Why not? She did finally go to sleep and she did pretty well keeping her legs to herself. In the morning we had breakfast at the hotel and a swim in the pool, then took a walk around the Providence Place Mall before heading back to Boston. Lucy is still talking about her little adventure and wants to go back to a hotel "again soon." It's a nice little life she's got, huh? Here are my bathing beauties before our trip to the pool:
